Entity #017 - Reese McBlox’s Key

Description

Entity #017 was a gear first released on Feburary 4th 2012 by the official Roblox account, costing 15 robux, the gear’s appearance was a yellow key with a blank graphic of the Roblox R on the eye of the key. Once Entity #017 was bought and equipped along with the user’s avatar, once a user joins a game while wearing the “Reese McBlox’s Diary” accessory and Entity #017, when the gear was pulled out once in-game, the key would float from the character’s hands and “unlock the diary”. Entity #017 was deleted on April 8th 2013 for currently unknown reasons, though its theorized by RE staff and players that ROBLOX employees saw the effects of unlocking the diary and quickly removed it to minimize damage.

Entity #017 has been reported to have no anomalous effects on the wearer, despite the actions Entity #017-A does. Upon its deletion, the ID redirected users to the Reese McBlox’s Diary item.

Entity #017-A was the unlocked version of the accessory named “Reese McBlox’s Diary”, this item was obtained after using Entity #017 while wearing the accessory in a game. Despite the accessory having its own page and being clickable within players’ inventories, it would lead to a page that prevented all ways to physically record or screenshot the pages, with every screenshot and video recordings either being severely corrupted or fully black.

Once Entity #017 unlocked the accessory “Reese McBlox’s Diary”, the next time the player joins a game, an animation sequence begins that shows the player’s character flipping through censored pages, eventually stopping and seemingly clawing out their own eyes, the player will then emit a sound, later found in some files of Roblox clients called “pain.wav”, and fall to the floor while bleeding. The player will remain like that until the ROBLOX window is closed or they are kicked from the game, this also has the effect of visually changing their username (Forum Posts, Profiles etc) to “Deceased” and having most of their forum posts changed to “This message has been removed as the user is deceased”, as well as locking the player out of the account.

Once Roblox discovered the phenomenon, they apparently worked on removing every instance of Entity #017-A’s event from the forums and attempted to take down footage of Entity #017-A. Roblox never officially commented on it, despite backlash from users and they have refused to share information about Entity #017 to anyone because, “the pages are confidential information”.

On March 14th 2014, the official Roblox account was somehow affected by #017’s effects, causing historic forum posts to be deleted, this was quickly reverted and this incident was dubbed “Reese’s Attack”.
