Entity #044 - Clockwork's Forbidden Gift

"Open the gift, you have broken the rules and done what you are told, great job, sincerely Clockwork."

Description

Entity #044, otherwise known as Clockwork's Forbidden Gift was an accessory which would specifically become active during ROBLOX's Christmas events, Giftsplosion. Entity #044's design was a grey version of the Opened Shiny Blue Gift of Niceness, with occasional smudges all over the texture. Entity #044's design would also change every year, replicating another gift's texture, however, during most of it's renditions made by the entity itself, it used its 2007 rendition/Shiny Blue Gift of Niceness design. Entity #044's catalog page would only appear from December 15th, to December 26th, costing 0 Robux, or "FREE." as the page states. Due to the nature of Entity #044, people often mischaracterized it as a myth until around 2011. During the entity's duration on the catalog, only one person per year could purchase and equip the accessory, over the course of a week, Entity #044 would start to "unwrap" and start a series of events, which will be listed below.

Stage 1:

Stage 1 occurs on the first day upon purchasing Entity #044. Nothing would be out of the ordinary.

Stage 2:

Stage 2 occurs on the second day upon purchasing Entity #044. The gift would slightly darken on some parts, as well as an increase of smudges.

Stage 3:

Stage 3 occurs on the 3rd to 4th day upon purchasing Entity #044. An increase of smudges and darkening would appear on the gift, as well as the player's character starting to darken and occasionally growling noises coming from the gift.

Stage 4:

Stage 4 occurs on the 5th day upon purchasing Entity #044. The ribbon on the entity's mesh would be fully unwrapped, as well more growling and humming noises coming from the gift. Some spots on the gift will also be severely darkened.

Stage 5:

Stage 5 occurs on the 6th day upon purchasing Entity #044. More growling, humming, and banging noises will come from the top of the gift, as well as the top being severely darkened and covered in smudges. Entity #044 also has the chance of slightly changing its shape. Whenever a player with Entity #044 would join a game, there would also be a small chance that some artificial UIs would be replaced with an image of itself, a message by the gift, or on the occasion, Entity #044-B.

Stage 6:

Stage 6 occurs on the 7th and final day upon purchasing Entity #044. 2 versions of Stage 6 could occur, one in-game and on the website. In-game, when the player reaches 12:00 AM in their timezone, the player will be frozen in place and the gift starting to change its shape. After a few seconds, the top of the gift breaks and parts of Entity #044-A start coming out of the gift, usually head, arms, torso, and legs in that order. During the process of Entity #044-A rising out of the gift, crunching and slight screaming noises would sound, ending after Entity #044-A breaks free. When the entity takes it's first step on the ground, it will take form of the player's character and kick them out of the game, locking them out of the account permanently and changing their avatar render to a grey character. However, if Stage 6 occurs on the website, the player would receive a pop-up about the gift, stating to "Open the gift, you have broken the rules and done what you are told, great job, sincerely Clockwork." with an image of Entity #044 on the pop-up. If the player would click the gift a certain amount of times, it would open and reveal an image of Entity #044-B, stating "A prize for your obedience will be given soon." Within 2-3 days, Entity #044-B would download itself onto the player's computer through the ROBLOX Client (Client - Files - Desktop), causing damage to the player's computer, for more information, please see Entity #044-B.

Whenever a Giftsplosion event would happen, Entity #044, or theorized to be Entity #044-B would alter the ROBLOX website in order to promote itself and get a purchase. These advertisements took forms as a replacement for user ads, forum posts, blog posts, images, or even accounts and games. These strategies for advertising would end along with the event itself. An instance of this occuring was Entity #044's last appearance in ROBLOX's Holiday Giveaway 2017, which would be the platform's last Giftsplosion as of today, where it continued it's usual process. However, on the last few days of the event, the entity would say it's goodbyes through altering the website, using the same strategies as stated before. During the course of Entity #044's existence, ROBLOX moderators often tried to cover it up or make it against the rules to talk about the gift. Due to the frequency of this, it is often theorized that the ROBLOX Forums and the Giftsplosion series were removed after 2017, possibly to stop any more mentions of Entity #044 and stop it from appearing again.

Entity #044-A - Wrapperlings

Entity #044-A, also referred to as "Wrapperlings" were the mimics/clones that came out of Entity #044 on it's 6th stage if it ended in-game. Entity #044-A's attempt at mimicking the player were always imperfect, from slight to massive oddities, such as different hats to entirely different size. The average Wrapperling lifespan was usually 1 to 5 weeks, with them slowly rotting and decaying on the last week of their lifespan. Wrapperlings could only stay in the game they transformed in for their lifespan, only being able to hop to different server. Whenever a player would visit a profile of a user that turned into a Wrappling, their avatar would appear as multiple conjoined and colorful bricks (both for a regular and deformed Wrappling). After the Wrappling dies, the player's profile page would disappear, appearing as terminated.

Wrapperlings tries their best to replicate the player it took form of. However, bursts of aggression can occur, verbally, and physically (if it's transformation deformity is abnormally large size) by tossing parts or the player's character around, and slamming players on the ground, instantly making them reset. Entity #044-A/Wrapplings also had the chance to come out of Entity #044 in the wrong order or weirdly, giving them separate deformities and significantly shortening their lifespans (3 days to 2 weeks). Deformed Wrapplings often had entirely random colors for each of their part and differently sized limbs, as well as being significantly smarter than the average Wrappling, often being confused and scared, looking at their limbs with some sort of face that looked horrified. At the end of a deformed Wrappling's lifespan, the entity would simply collapse and it's parts/limbs being flinged away. Only 1 recorded case of a deformed Wrappling has occurred, but fortunately, most of it's lifespan was logged in a now deleted, providing us a multitude of information.

Entity #044-B - "Claus"

Entity #044-B, also referred to as Claus was the entity which would appear if stage 6 ended on the website. Entity #044 wore ROBLOX Santa, Clockwork Shades, the Robloxian 2.0 package, a Santa shirt and pants, and Santa's Grappling Gun. Once stage 6 ended, a ROBLOX pop-up would appear on your computer with an image of Entity #044, as well as text saying "Thank you for waiting, as a prize for your obedience, I can end a burden. Sincerely Clockwork." Once the player clicks the image of Entity #044, the gift would start to unwrap, revealing an image of Entity #044-B.

After the person sees the image of Claus, Entity #044-B would have the ability of tampering with computer files once seen (Traversing through your client - ROBLOX Folder - Other files), such as corrupting images/videos, temporarily disabling files from opening, and even occasionally turning off your computer. Entity #044-B would usually linger on one's computer for around 4 months, before leaving and stating "Considering thanking me, I have helped stop you from having a naughty, naughty addiction to technology, I hope you learn from my experience. Sincerely Clockwork and Claus." Entity #044-B could also join you in-game, often following you, flying around you like a mosquito, and catching up to you with its grapple gear. Claus would usually harass you in-game, telling you to stop your addiction and take a break. Entity #044-B would linger around the player until they left, Entity #044-B also had the ability to pester and harass you through Party Chat, forums, and even through pop-ups on your computer, barely ever stopping unless it was shut off. Apparently, something would happened to the player a day after Claus left, but the only recorded case of Entity #044-B doesn't show this.

Even after the end of Giftsplosion, Entity #044-B could still access your computer and continue it's process if the person saw an image of it, with cases of Entity #044-B being reported to TREA staff as of early 2025. Some recorded cases showed that it was more weaker at it's attempts after the event series ended, with it lasting from 4 months to 2 months, and it being mostly inactive when lingering in your computer. It's also been discovered with recent cases that Claus can easily be stopped through Task Manager. It is often recommended to not see any images of Entity #044-B, even with it's less dangerous capabilities.
