Entity #47 - Consuming Hats

Description

Entity #47, referred to on the ROBLOX Forums as "Imposter Hats" or simply "Consuming Hats," are a type of hat commonly taking the appearance of lucrative accessories, for example the Banded Top Hats. They would often be released under the username of ROBLOX, copying the exact item's description and name. However, the special thing about them is the fact that they were cheap, luring in players with moderate amounts of Robux to buy it.

The only way to verify if it's an Imposter Hat is to check the bottom of the accessory, usually fitted with a mouth underneath. Whenever you equipped them, it would presumably be permanently stuck on your avatar, latching on like a parasitic being of sorts. According to forum messages by "hollyberries," it would consume the avatar every one hour, one at a time. After 24 hours, it would turn your avatar into a blood splat with the Imposter Hat on top, and if any accessories were worn before or during the period of being latched on, it would be taken off of your inventory, essentially making it impossible to wear them again.

Incident Report

During the late 2000s, a swarm of these entities would appear on the avatar page, taking the form of Banded Top Hats at cheap prices. After an hour or so, the accessories were taken offsale, but weren't removed until a day later. Various reports about their avatars quote "being consumed by hats" were made on the ROBLOX Forums, forcing ROBLOX to make an official response regarding the hats.

ROBLOX's official statement: "We apologize for the 'Imposter Hats' suddenly removing your accessories and avatar. We'll be sure to avert this problem the next day, until then, any victims will get compensation of 400 Robux to cover the costs." Soon after, the accessories were taken off sale before being fully removed the next day, with the refunds being sent to victims.

There were rumors regarding a user by the name of "jummisad" that managed to "capture" an Imposter Hat by saving it as an outfit. However, current findings aren't sufficient enough to confirm whether this rumor is based in truth or not.

Consumption States

The currently documented states of being consumed by the Consuming Hats are as follows:

• STATE 1: Head being consumed by the entity.
• STATE 2: The entity successfully being able to latch onto your torso.
• STATE 3: Starting to consume the upper torso.
• STATE 4: Arms are on the ground, any other information is unknown.
• STATE 5: Lower torso successfully consumed.
• STATE 6: Upper legs successfully consumed.
• STATE 7: Fully consumed by the Imposter Hats, the only thing left is a puddle of blood and the entity.
